Steve Ticknor Joins Jim Russell's DSM Group to Create New Events

Realtor/entrepreneur Steve Ticknor and DSM Events founder Jim Russell—who together own the Desert Storm Poker Run—have announced a new partnership to expand and enhance the work of DSM, the largest, oldest producer of events in the tristate area of Arizona, Nevada and California. Russell, the longtime owner of DSM Events, now welcomes Ticknor as part of that organization to enhance its future activities.

"Steve will now be an equal partner in the ownership of DSM Events, an thereby opening the door through that partnership for the creation of new events in the future," Russell told Speedboat.

Russell said the long history of DSM Events has been "very significantly motorsports related, and any expansion in the near future will continue in that direction."

DSM's involvement in motorsports events can be traced back to 1988's Lake Havasu City Cherokee Fly-In. Over the next 35 years, DSM has produced more than 150

events of their own in three states and two countries. In addition, they contract to events of others for various equipment and services now numbering in excess of 500. One such event was DSM’s contractual relationship with the Havasu Balloon Festival a few years ago, where Ticknor and Russell first worked together.

Ticknor’s extensive experience with non profit organizations along with his stewardship of the Balloon Festival (another of the largest events in Lake Havasu City)

brings a new dimension to the list of DSM‘s events. The list includes the IJSBA World Finals (the largest personal watercraft event in the world), the Anderson Powersports LHMA Boat Show and Fireworks Havasu for spectator experiences of the WPA Winterblast.
